Keywords:
Big Data Analytics, Financial ReportingAbstract
The research adopted a descriptive and analytical approach that combines theoretical and practical aspects to study and analyze the impact of employing big data analysis techniques on improving the quality and efficiency of financial reports issued by banks listed on the Iraq Stock Exchange.
On the theoretical side, the study included a comprehensive presentation of the conceptual framework related to the concept of big data, its characteristics, analysis tools, and its impact on the business environment. It also clarified the relationship between the use of these techniques and the requirements for preparing modern financial reports in accordance with disclosure and transparency standards. A number of previous relevant Arab and foreign studies were also reviewed to identify research gaps and identify areas in which the current study could contribute.
On the practical side, a purposive sample of (14) banks operating on the Iraq Stock Exchange was selected, representing various types of private, Islamic, and investment banks, to ensure the comprehensiveness of the results and the possibility of generalizing them to the Iraqi banking sector. Data for these banks was collected from annual reports, published disclosures, and classifications approved by the Central Bank of Iraq. The analysis included the preparation of a descriptive table defining each bank in terms of its type of shareholding, date of establishment and listing, and current capital size, with the aim of clarifying the basic characteristics of the sample studied. Quantitative analysis methods were then employed, using appropriate statistical and technical tools to analyze the available data, in line with the nature of the research problem and its questions. This approach aimed to measure the impact of adopting big data analysis techniques on improving the quality and reliability of the financial reports prepared by these banks.
The integration of theoretical and applied aspects in this study aims to provide a practical, evidence-based vision that can be used to enhance the efficiency of accounting information systems in Iraqi banks and raise the level of compliance with financial disclosure requirements. This, in turn, supports decision-makers and contributes to raising the level of transparency and trust.
